Track the status of your refund by using the New Mexico Tax Center’s “Where’s my New Mexico State refund?” tool.  Just fill in your Social Security number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, expected refund amount, and the filing tax year, and you can get instant information about your refund.

The New Mexico Tax Center is a secure, electronic self-service system. It allows you to submit payments securely and view account balances, make payments for returns and assessments, protest appeal assessments, and view copies of correspondence.

New Mexico Tax ReturnNew Mexico Department of Taxation issues most refunds within 21 business days. You may check the status of your refund on-line at New Mexico Tax Center. You can start checking on the status of your return within 24 hours after we have received your e-filed return or 4 weeks after you mail a paper return. Their phone and walk-in representatives can research the status of your refund only if it has been 21 days or more since you filed electronically, more than 6 weeks since you mailed your paper return, or Where’s My New Mexico State Refund? directs you to contact the New Mexico Department of Taxation.

Before making an inquiry, please allow:

  1. ● 4 weeks for returns filed electronically.
  2. ● 6 weeks for paper returns filed prior to April 1st.
  3. ● 12 weeks for paper returns filed after April 1st.

To obtain the refund status of your 2014 tax return, you must enter your social security number, your date of birth, the type of tax and whether it is an amended return.
